When Catherine Rudy arrived at Durham Hensley, her goal was clear — to strengthen her health and regain her independence. During her stay, the Respiratory Therapy Team had the privilege of supporting her along the way.
Our Team provided education on COPD management and the importance of smoking cessation. Before discharge, Catherine shared her commitment to quit smoking and her plan to follow up with her primary care provider to continue that journey. We are so proud of her dedication to making positive lifestyle changes.
Prior to her admission, Catherine did not require oxygen at home. While we attempted to titrate her oxygen per protocol during her stay, she wasn’t quite ready at that time. Respiratory Therapy collaborated closely with Social Services to ensure a safe and successful discharge, making sure Catherine had the oxygen and nebulizer she needed to continue her care at home.
Catherine expressed how wonderful her experience at Durham-Hensley had been and shared that she would miss everyone. She was truly a joy to work with, and we are grateful to have played a role in her progress.
We wish Catherine continued success and the very best as she moves forward on her journey toward better health.
