Small Time, Big Impact - Shirley’s Journey

In less than a month, Ms. Shirley Morgan made a lasting impression on our entire Team.

After being hospitalized for acute respiratory failure with hypoxia, Shirley came to Durham-Hensley for rehab requiring 4L of oxygen - something she did not use at home before. She discharged home on the same amount, but with something even more important: confidence, education, and support.

Our Respiratory Therapist worked alongside her every step of the way, ensuring she and her family felt prepared and comfortable managing her oxygen needs at home. Through teamwork, Shirley returned home safely and was set up for success.

Shirley shared how satisfied she was with her care, and we can truly say the feeling was mutual. Her amazing sense of humor, joy, and kind heart brightened every day. We truly loved caring for her! We are so grateful to have been part of her journey and to have met such an incredible patient and family.
